Doing a sunrise photography in a tropical Islands around the world is bit of challenging sometimes. Tropical islands for example Bali, Hawaii, Langkawi, etc are most famous tourist places around the world. Tourist flock these places with camera, some love to take early morning photos. The most common problem everyone face is the dew, which keep on collecting on the lens. Since there is a high concentration of vapour in the tropical islands, it is very important to keep camera under proper care. Most of the times dew formation on the lens is because of difference in temperature and since camera is cooler than temperature outside initially its very hard to get rid of it. This is the most common problem everyone face in tropics doing early morning photography.
[Personal Experience]
I love sunrise photography and doing it in places like Bali or Malaysia is hard because of dew. As we all stay in air conditioned hotel to beat the heat, camera also become as cold as room. As soon as you takes it out and open lens cover, it forms the dew and keep on forming until camera becomes warm.
[Solutions]
One of the easy solution is to leave room early. Stay outdoor until camera gets to the normal outdoor temperature, but it will effects your sleep. Secondly keep camera under bulk of clothes, so it can retain its warmth and return to outdoor temperature easily.
Apart from that its important to follow few more steps to keep camera in good condition
– Don’t leave camera mirror exposed for a long time as dew can collect there.
– Use UV filters for the lens to protect the original lens glass.
– Keep a plastic bag as at some places, rain can happen anytime.
– Keep few of the proper lens cleaning cloth.
– Open lens cover only when camera is not cold.
Hope following these few personal tips will make your trip to tropics easy and photography more fun.
